" The harvest of a coming age " is basically being referred to the forthcoming generation which would be using the various resources given by the trees and will be taking all the advantages of planting trees.

The harvest of a coming age:

In the poem, “The Heart of the Tree”, the poet describes how the planting of the trees is helpful for everyone around, now and later. He says that planting a tree results in giving a good friend, cool shade and rain for the people.

In the second stanza, when the poet describes the need of trees for a green plain and for the forest, he mentions it as “the harvest of a coming age”. This means that the planting of trees help only a little for the present generation but they will grow big, give fruits and seeds and give good vegetation for the future generations to come. So, the people in future will thank the person who planted it.
