According to your question we should calculate the time taken by the train to cross the pillar.

We knew,

Speed = distance / time

Time = distance / speed

Here,

Distance = 100 m

Speed =
50km/hr = 50 X 1000 / 3600 m/s

Therefore,

Time = 100 X 3600 / 50 X 1000

Therefore,

Time = 7.2 seconds.
