Fossil are most commonly found in Sedimentary rock , Unlike most igneous and metamorphic rock .
Fossil is found because of the way of of rock formed ... The reason why metamorphic rarely contains fossils is because they were destroyed by the heat and pressured form them .
Extrusive igneous rock (lava flows) could trap plants and animals but the heat would destroy them leaving a cast fossil at best .

the reason why sedimentary rocks contains fossils is because ,these rocks are formed on the earth surface under the water at very low temperatures and pressures.
In other words the biosphere can only interact with the sediments.
