In order to make India a front-line country and economy, the government has launched schemes such as Digital India and Make in India, which require the education system, especially higher education, to gear itself to the task of realising these missions. The pursuit and success of these goals will largely depend on the availability and commitment of the talented and trained human resource. It is here that the role of education is most crucial.

Education enriches people’s understanding of themselves and world. It improves the quality of their lives and leads to broad social benefits to individuals and society. Education raises people’s productivity and creativity and promotes entrepreneurship and technological advances. In addition it plays a very crucial role in securing economic and social progress and improving income distribution.

Education clearly is a driver of better productivity giving rise to a higher competitive ability and hence more jobs and higher economic growth rates. Education is vital for nation building, so greatest need is high quality education. If the educational system and the methods are of poor quality or substandard, the output or product will be merely quantity with no use for nation building. There will be a crisis of unemployment and inability to compete with other advanced nations. To make the quality education a reality and this requires parents, teachers and the government to work together to build a quality approach to quality education.

• People's understanding of the world and themselves are improved via education. Their quality of life is enhanced, and both the individual and society gain from this in significant ways. Education increases productivity and creativity, encourages entrepreneurship, and advances technology.
• As a developmental tool, education builds and strengthens sociability, self-assurance, and other life and professional skills. Through higher production and perhaps better governance, these personal abilities support social economic progress.
