In what way is the sludge obtained from a WWTP used?

Sludge refers to semi-solid form or suspension of matter that settles down through wastewater treatment.
Sludge obtained through wastewater treatment plant can act as inoculum( bacteria for decomposition) for starting again treatment of another slot of waste water. Remaining part ofsludge is used to produce biogas.
