Ramachari’s livelihood was related to agriculture in the village.

He was a carpenter who made tools and implements for farmers to carry out their agricultural activities. The farmers in turn, gave him a major share of their produce. This was more than what he actually needed to support his family. Ramachari used to keep aside what he and his family needed. He them sold the remaining quantity for a price and earned money that way. Therefore, his livelihood was indirectly related to agriculture in the village until famine and drought set in.
