In what way was the Islamic expansion into India similar to the way Islam expanded in other areas?
Answers
Islamic expansion into India was promoted by both Islamic traders and conquerors, is the right answer.
With the advent of the Arab traders, during the early 7th century, the influence of Islam in the Indian subcontinent was felt for the first time. Traders from Arab used to come to the Malabar region of India even before the establishment of Islam in Arab since Malabar served as a link between them and the harbors of South East Asia to business. Traders would normally sail to the western coast of India to trade commodities such as gold, spices and African goods etc. Typically, when the Arabs commenced converting to Islam, they brought their new faith to the coasts of India. Through the expansion of trade between Arab traders and Indians, the newly developed faith called Islam began to spread in the coastal regions of India, both by migration and conversion.
