Although both metals are very soft and ductile, the resulting aluminium alloy will have much greater strength. Adding a small amount of non-metallic carbon to iron trades its great ductility for the greater strength of an alloy called steel.

hope it help you.....

a mixture of two or more metals is called alloy. Alloys are most commonly used than metals. By alloying, some of the important properties of metals can be improved.

For instance, steel is stronger than the iron.
