Be shows anomalous behaviour than other elements of same group chemically
1. Be is a very hard metal
2. Be has high melting point then other elements of same group
3. Be(OH)2 is less basic
4. BeO is an amphoteric oxide.
5. Beryllium carbide (Be2C) produce CH4 where as other elements of same group produce acetylene upon hydrolysis
(See reaction)
6. Be do not react with water and hydrogen directly .
7. Be usually form covalent compound whereas other elements of same group usually form ionic bonds
