Victims shouldn’t have to work so hard to be accepted as victims. If you think the police are quick to help victims you are dead wrong - first you have to prove you are a victim and sometimes that’s not so easy. Even with physical proof they still do very little to help. Victim services is another area that falls short - they say they don’t work for or with the police (they actually are supposed to be non partial and they work for the attorney general) but they do and that causes problems because their first priority should be the victims themselves and not police agendas. I get that sometimes people lie, but in the case of a victim of a crime, especially if the crime is violent, it will be obvious if you know what to look for - aren’t the police trained for that? Also BS stories fall apart very quickly, so it wouldn’t kill anyone to accept a victim at face value until such a time where it becomes apparent they are NOT victims.
