In what ways do presssure groups and movements exert influence on polities

When enough people get together to support a cause, change will happen. They hold rallies, protest etc to gain support and a following of people who care as much about the topic as they do. They also use media to try to gain attention to the issue. When the spotlight is turned on an issue the government has to do something to control the people, so most likely a compromise will be made. Sometimes these groups can even cause a new bill or policy to be passed.
