☞ Both Rajendra 1 and Sultan Mahmud of Ghazni of  Afghanistan who targetted wealthy temples and helped him  to accumulate wealth.

☞ Temples were symbolic of power and wealth of the kings and were extremely rich.

☞ The idols in temples were mostly made of Gold and these became easy target of the kings to seize so as to capture wealth and treasure.

☞ Kings attacked temples looted wealth , idols this helped them in displaying their might, superiority against the defeated ruler.

☞ However we may identify  certain difference, as Muhamd of Ghazni looted and plundered Hindu temples, to glorify Islam, thus he had communal feelings. He wanted to plunder and loot to establish his capital.

☞ Rajendra 1 on the other hand looted temples ,  and later reestablished the statutes seized., We may give example of Shiva temple.
