The decomposition of plants and animals in the soil is either turned into fertilizers or natural gas. another example is the conversion of wood into coal. 

The conversion of carbon into oxygen again takes a lot of time, as the forest are decreasing and emission of CO2 is increasing rapidly so it is taking more time to be converted and recycled again
