in what ways does the money influence the information brought to us
Answers
Answer:
In many ways
Explanation:
Collecting information, filter the relevant, and channeling it to the general public takes effort. Human time and dedication. Which means whoever does this job needs to be paid for it. People generally don't want to pay for information tho, which is why the business model tends to be ADs centered.
Two things occur when the majority of information is produced by institutions who depend on ADs for living:
1. It's hard to stay objective when your client (who pays you for AD) also makes the news in some way
2. AD are sold at higher price when your content has more view (paper or online) which means that you will tend to generate more content, diminishing the overall quality of information AND you will tend to have "clickbaity" titles, again to draw more attention and sell more ADs or at higher prices.
Another way in which money influences information is by the relationship between the information company (journal etc) owner and some people of influence. Put simply, if the journal owner is close friend with a politician, he might :
1. Not allow any critical article regarding his politician friend
2. Make opinionated articles that will shape general opinion in favor of a policy that his politician friend is advocating
