When acids react with metals they form hydrogen gas and salt.

For example- When dilutedilute sulphuric acid reacts with zinc metal then zinc sulphate and hydrogen gas are formed.

When bases react with metals they also form hydrogen gas and metal salt.

For example-when sodium hydroxide solution is heated with zinc then sodium zincate and hydrogen gas are formed.
