The earliest descriptions of Bhakhtiyar Khilji's invasion of Bihar has been written or described in Tabakat-i-Nasiri which was written by Minhaj-i-Siraj.

Minhaj-i-Siraj was a Persian medieval historian and scholar who was patronized by Sultan Nasir-ud-Din Mahmud. He describes in his book the invasion of Bihar by Bhakhtiyar Khilji, the military commander of Qutub-ud-Din Aibak. He mentions the destruction of Buddhist monasteries in Bihar at the hands of Bhakhtiyar Khilji.
