In which cell division the sporophyte phase is formed after growth and development of zygote?

The zygote formed by fusion of male and female gametes is diploid .In higher plants this diploid zygote shows mitotic division to form the diploid plant body which is called sporophyte. A sporophyte is the diploid multicellular stage in the life cycle of a plant or alga.
