In ancient times, India was invaded by many in the beginning of second century B.C. (because of the weak successors of ASHOKA).First one to invade India was GREEKS(also called indo-greeks or bactrians) and they introduced variety of coins includes punch marked coins.They also introduced first gold coin in India.......

Kushan emperor Vema Kadaphises is said to be responsible for introducing gold coin to India in around 100CE.Vima,was the predecessor of Kanishka,The great,the fifth Kushan king,who rule virtually all of northern India.
