Hi

(a) Resultant resistance is more than the individual resistance in series arrangement of resistors.

EXAMPLE: If two resistors of 4 ohms and 6 ohms are connected in series,

Equivalent resistance = (4+6) ohms = 10 ohms.

Here, 4<10 and 6<10

(b) Resultant resistance is less than the smallest individual resistance in parallel arrangement of resistors.

EXAMPLE: If two resistors of 2 ohms and 4 ohms are connected in parallel,

1/Equivalent resistance = (1/2+1/4) ohms = 3/4 ohms

=> Equivalent resistance= 4/3 ohms

Here, 4>4/3
