When elected leaders (who are part of the democratic govt) do not know the best interest of the people, it leads to bad decisions.
Explanation:
- When the constituents (voters), serving or leading the votes, it is the civic responsibility of the representatives to work for the well-being of the people but they can not, with the large population, recognise any popular desires and demands.
- Consequently, actions that favour people are often made and some do not like them, which leads to strikes and so forth. The explanations are different and depend on the problem.
- For starters, the interests of other "economic classes" are more often than not different from the general population. These organisations compel government leaders to take their decisions and give bribes or warnings to political leaders directly and indirectly,
- The interests of the population as a whole are much less clearly known and embraced. Another factor. Say, half voters will want compulsory health care for everybody, while the other half think medical insurance too pricey, and may not want to be invested. When a President / Prime Minister does not support a Universal Health Care, half of the electors will accuse him because he has no compliance with the wishes of people, and the other half will support him because they do not want to spend money on him that they believe is not necessary.
