The Cape of Good Hope is situated in Africa. It is a rocky headland found on the Atlantic coast of Cape Peninsula that is in turn present in South Africa in the Western Cape Province.  

This cape was discovered by a Protuguese navigator named Bartolomeu Dias in 1488 when he was returning to Portugal after identifying the southern limit of the continent. He gave it the name Cape of Storms.

The present name Cape of Good Hope was later given by the Portugal John II because it was considered as a good sign to approach India by sea.
