England is known as the father of cricket .
❤️❤️❤️❤️ Here is it's history ❤️❤️❤️❤️
An earlier version of cricket as we know today, originated in England of course. Much of the game was played at an amateurish level in the shires and between existing counties.
Because of the vast expanse of the British empire, cricket was imported to the erstwhile British colonies all across the globe, most prominent among them being Australia, India, the Caribbean, South Africa, New Zealand and Canada. Canada was the only country where it could not gain a stronghold. From hereon, cricket as a game, made rapid progress in most British colonies, and was at one point in the 19th century, the world’s leading field sport, before surrendering its mantle to football for a variety of reasons (outside the scope of this question).
However, the very first known international game didn’t surprisingly involve England. It was one between USA and Canada in 1844, played at St. George’s Cricket Club in New York. This feature is today know as Auty Cup and continues till this day.
Hence, though England was the first country in which cricket was extensively played, the claim to have played the international version of the game first can be taken by USA and Canada, two countries where cricket virtually just ceased to exist.
