Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, generally known as Mahatma Gandhi. He was born on 2nd October 1869 in Porbandar, Gujarat.

He was the main leader of the Indian independence movement against British rule. He was also known as Bapu and "Father of the Nation".

On 4th September 1888, Gandhi sailed for England to study law and become a barrister.

He went to "South Africa" in the year 1893 at the age of 24 as a newly qualified lawyer. He spent there 21 years from 1893 to 1914, where he developed his political views, ethics, and politics.
