Answer: Philosophy

Explanation:

Abu Walid Mohammad Ibn Rushd earned fame in the field of philosophy. He was born in Cordova,Spain in 1128 C.E. He was known as Averroes in the Latin West.

He wrote on various subjects like philosophy, medicine, theology, astronomy, Islamic jurisprudence and law, physics and linguistics. He was famous in the west as The Commentator for his commentaries on Aristotle.

He tried to merge Aristotelian philosophy with Islamic thought. One common theme which we find in his writings is that there is no incompatibility between philosophy and religion. This according to him was because both were properly understood.

The most important contribution of his in the field of philosophy was the book Tuhafut al-Tuhafut which was written in response to al-Ghazali's view. The book drew huge criticism from a large section of Muslim scholars, however it had an immense influence on European thought process.

Hope this helps.
