All atoms in every tri-atomic molecule lie in at least one plane. And if that doesn't blow your mind, a diatomic molecule has all its atoms in an infinite number of planes. Straight molecules are molecules where the bond angle is 180°. Examples include carbon dioxide ( C O 2 ) and hydrogen cyanide (HCN).
