All the musical instruments which have strings, for example guitar, violin etc. execute the oscillatory motion. The object is said to be in oscillatory motion when it moves to and fro in same direction.

When we hit the strings of guitar or violin, they move to and fro. This means that, they execute oscillations. These oscillations generate the music out of the instruments.

This motion of the strings of the instruments is same as that of the swing.
