In which of the following cases a unique triangle can be drawn

a) AB = 4cm,BC= 8cm,and CA=2 CM
b) BC = 5.2 CM, angle B = 90 degree and angle C = 110 degree
C) XY= 5 CM, angle X = 45 degree and angle Y = 60 degree

d) An isosceles triangle with the length of each equal side 6.2 CM.

Option(c) XY = 5cm, Angle X = 45 degree and angle Y = 60 degree. A unique triangle can be drawn in this case

explanation:

  • A unique triangle is not possible in Option(a) because the sum of two sides is not greater than the third side (4+2)cm < 8cm so, the triangle is not possible.
  • A unique triangle is not possible in Option(b) because the sum of two angles of a triangle is greater than 180 degree.

                                ∠B + ∠C > 180°

                                 110° + 90°> 180°

  • A unique triangle is possible in option(c) because the sum of two angles of triangles is not greater than 180 degree.

                                ∠X + ∠Y <180°

                                 45° + 60° <180°

  • In option (d), since equal sides of a triangle are given, where the third side satisfies the equation,

                                  AB + BC >CA

(where AB, BC, CA are sides)

so in this condition triangle is possible but a unique triangle is not possible.
