More cellular detail can be observed using an electron microscope

Light microscope

  • It is a type of laboratory equipment used to observe microorganisms.
  • A light microscope uses sunlight or artificial light to illuminate the specimen being studied, after passing through the specimen the light passes through a series of magnifying lenses to produce an enlarged image of the specimen.
  • A typical light microscope can provide magnification up to 1400X.

Electron microscope

  • It is a sophisticated type of laboratory equipment that uses electron beams to obtain a magnified image of the specimen being observed.
  • Electromagnets act as lenses and the whole system operates under a  vacuum.
  • The specimen cannot be observed directly and is seen via images on a computer captured by a camera.
  • The magnification provided by an electron microscope is about 50 million times.

Thus, (Option D) All of these i.e. Animal, Bacterial, Protists can be observed in greater detail using an electron microscope.
