Hi friend,

# C.MnO

Among , the given compounds manganese will have the shortest radius in the compound in which its oxidation state is maximum...i hope it helps you

Answer: Option (c) is the correct answer.

Explanation:

An atom that loses maximum number of electrons will have the smallest atomic radius and highest positive charge. Whereas an atom that gain maximum number of electrons will have the largest atomic radius and least positive charge.

Therefore, oxidation number of manganese in the given compounds will be as follows.

MnO_{2} : x + (-4) = 0

               = +4

KMnO_{4} : 1 + x + 4(2) = 0

               = +7

MnO : x + (-2) = 0

            = +2

K_{3}[Mn(CN)_{6}] : 3 + x + (-6) = 0

                 = +3

Therefore, oxidation number of Mn is lowest in MnO.

Hence, we can conclude that MnO is the compound of manganese which show maximum radius.
