In which of the following pairs, both the species are
not isostructural?

(2) XeF4, Xeo4
(3) SICI4, PCI4+

option C is the right answer...

reason-we know Xenon had 8 electrons in its valence shell in which four electrons is shared by fluorine electron which remain as two lone pair which will repel the four flourine atoms while in XeO4 all the valence electrons of Xenon are shared by oxygen atom so no lone, pair is left.

hope it helps you

Both the species in option (2) XeF4, and Xeo4 are not isostructural.

  1. In NH3 and PH3, the hybridization is sp³ and the shape is pyramidal geometry. This means there is one line pair in the structure and three bond pairs.
  2. In SICI4 and PCI4+, the hybridization is again sp³. But here, there are four bonds. Hence, both have tetrahedral geometry.
  3. Diamond and silicon carbide also have four bonds. Hence, their hybridization and geometry are sp³ and tetrahedral making them isostructural.
  4. XeF4 has sp³d² hybridization while XeO4 has sp³ hybridization.
