Skin is the largest organ we have. It plays a vital role in maintaining body temperature via perspiration.

When it is cold outside, the blood vessels near the skin remain constrict and help retaining the heat inside the body and keep the body warm in cold. On the other hand, when temperature is high, the vessels dilates and they release the heat from the body through skin cells.

Similarly, in cold temperature, the red blood cells contract, keeps the heat inside the body and vice versa.

Just like skin, subcutaneous layer which is made up of fat and lipid cells, also play a rile in maintaining body temperature.
