External fertilization is an opposite of Internal fertilization process.

The species belonging to fish,Amphibians and other aquatic animals (Sharks, mammals and other special fishes) use external fertilization.

It is beneficial towards the life span of mother, as it does not need mother's support to carry the offspring till it takes birth.

In External fertilization, both male and female organism will release their gametes (sperms and eggs) and just regret it. The regretted sperms and eggs fuse together to form an embryo when the sperms particles of male organism reach the eggs.

Usually, this type of fertilization doesn't need any parental care where the environment in which the egg present will provide the care.

Most of the aquatic animals reproduce through the external fertilization like cord, trout, salmon, and amphibians like frog also follow the external fertilization sometimes.
