In Pisces (fishes), the heart does not pump oxygenated blood to the different parts of the body.
The ‘circulatory system’ of the fish is known as the basic plan. The site of ‘oxygenation’ is the gills. The heart only pumps ‘deoxygenated blood’ from the body to the ‘gills’ which is the site of oxygenation.
In the gills, the blood is oxygenated by diffusion and this blood is pumped out through the arterial arch into several ‘blood vessels’ that carry this oxygenated blood to different ‘parts of the body’.
