In mythology, Saranga is said to be the celestial bow of Vishnu, the Hindu God. There is mention of Saranga in both the Hindu epics, Ramayana and Mahabharata.
Legends say that in Ramayana, Parshuram challenged Ram to hold the Saranga after Ram broke the Pinaka of Shiva.
Ram lifted it with ease. Ram then fought the battle with Ravana using the Saranga. It is depicted in several paintings of Ram holding it.
