The Karewa Basin  is located between the Pir Panjal Range and the Great Himalayan Range in the Kashmir Himalayas, in Northwest India The word Karewa  means an elevated table-land in local dialect. These sediments occur at terraces, plateaus and mounds and rest over the Paleozoic-Mesozoic sediments of the Kashmir basin.
