Chemical weathering is more effective in warm and humid regions.

In such regions, the soil is thicker and the landforms are rounded. This weathering process is also called decomposition and converts the original rocks into new stuff with another composition.

Chemical weathering takes place due to several processes like hydrolysis, dissolution and oxidation.

Hydrolysis causes the hydrogen and oxygen in water to decompose the rock into soluble salts and clay.

Dissolution results in breaking down the mineral grains into their original  components.

Oxidation causes a reaction between the rocks and oxygen to give them a rusty surface.
