Kidney is bean shaped organ found in your body.

The functional and structure unit of Kidney is called Nephron.

The structure at the starting of nephron is called as malpighian corpuscle.

It comprises of bowman capsule and glomerulus.

It is the location where ultra filtration seems to takes place.

It is available on the cortex segment of the kidney.

Malpighian corpuscles are found in the Renal cortex of the kidneys.

■ Malpighian corpuscles are also referred to as "Renal corpuscles".

■ The Malpighian corpuscles (Renal corpuscles) consist of the following parts :-

  • Glomerular capsule (Bowman's capsule; named after the British physician- "Sir William Bowman" 1862-92)

  • Glomerulus

■ The Bowman's capsule is two layered.

■ The outer parietal layer of the Bowman's capsule is a simple squamous epithelium.

■ The inner visceral layer of the Bowman's capsule consists of "Podocytes".

■ Podocytes are special, less flattened cells.
