No , a noun cannot be an adjective but , however, a noun can be changed into an adjective and and an adjective can be changed into a noun . In modals we use verbs which are used as subject in the sentence , such as , "Swimming is a good exercise " . In this sentence , despite ,swimming is a verb , although it is used as noun in some sentence . Adjectives and verbs two different things . If one thing is doing some work , we can't say that other would do the same work . The summary is that , a noun cannot be an adjective and vice versa .
