Sand dunes in Punjab are found in the South Western Side.

  • In Punjab, the south western districts have a semi arid climate, bordering the Thar desert  of Rajasthan, where wind action is a notable feature of topographical variation.
  • Many parts of Faridkot, Ferozpur and Bhatinda and some southern parts such as Sangrur and Patiala are also   studded with sand dunes.
  • Sand dunes are also found in Mansa and Muktar district of Punjab, forming an important topographical feature  and standing out as low or high hills.
  • They are believed to be developed due to braiding action of rivers Satluj and Ghaggar and their tributaries.
