Swami Dayanand Saraswati visited Rewari in 1880 at the request of Rao Yudhister who was the Ahir leader and the descendant of Rao Tula Ram. Afterwards he became the disciple of Swami Dayanand. In Rewari Swami Dayanand gave eleven religious discourses and participated in discussions. He made a violent attack on Puranic gossips and incarnatism. A Goshala was set up in Rewari which was perhaps the first Goshala in Northern India.
