According to economic basis population of India can be divided into different categories.
1. People below the poverty line: poverty line is the people are divided into two categories based on income they gain.
People below the poverty line will earn very less amount of salaries such that they could not even satisfy their daily needs.
2. People above the poverty line : these people can gain their needs required for their daily life.
On basis of tax Indian population is divided into two categories known as taxpayers and non taxpayers.
