Land degradation due to deforestation due to mining has been very prevalent in these two states which are Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh.
- Mining has had many detrimental impacts on the environment including air pollution, water pollution, scarring of natural landscapes and wildlife.
- Mining and its subsequent activities have been found to degrade the land to a great extent.
- These lands have been overburdened to provide for the nation and export purposes
- This not only deplets the resources but also the nearby areas
Therefore Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Orissa have faced deforestation due to mining. This in turn has caused severe land degradation.
