In which type of living organisms meristmatic tissues are found and state their importance

Meristematic tissues are a group of young cells that are in a continuous state of division.

These tissues are mostly found at the apices of root and shoot.


The main characteristics of cells of meristematic tissues are:

•They are living and thin walled.

•Vacuoles are few and small in size.

•The cells contain a dense protoplasm and

conspicuous nuclei.

•The cells are spherical, oval or polygonal in

shape.

•They do not store reserve food material and

are in an active state of metabolism.

Answer:- As meristematic tissue is present in specific parts of the plant, growth occurs in those parts only. Cells of meristematic tissue contain think. Cytoplasm, a Conspicuous nucleus and a thin cell wall and are compactly packed together. Vacuoles are usually absent in these cells. These Cells are highly active. To bring about growth is the main function of meristematic tissue.
