When a light ray is incident on the interface of the two media then it undergoes refraction and enters into the other medium following Snell's Law

when light ray strikes the interface it does not deviate inder these two cases:

(i) when light ray falls normally to the interface i.e,i=0o

(ii) when the refractive indices of both the medium is same then light ray passes undeviated as it will not observe as any change in the medium boundary
