Answer:

Prions are a kind of virus which don't have any nucleic acid content in it. These prions are completely protein based. The nucleic acid present in viruses will be DNA and RNA. DNA is deoxy ribo nucleic acid ans RNA is ribonucleic acid. Both of these are responsible for hereditary activity and other secretions happening in the cells. Both these DNA and RNA nucleic acid content is absent in prions. So the answer is prions.

Prions are a kind of virus which do not have any nucleic acid components they are made up of proteins.

Explanation:

  • The word Prions means “proteinaceous infectious particle”. They are misfolded protein which gained the ability to infect other nearby protein.
  • The scientific term which is given to the infectious protein is called PrPSc.
  • The exact structure is still not known but the assumption is made that it is in beta-sheet structure. There is a research assumption that prions infection takes place through ingestion.
  • They cause diseases in both plants and animals and responsible for the Creutzfeldt – Jakob diseases in humans.
