- The Chinese moved forward towards the north of Pangong Lake with the intentions of capturing Yula and Sirijap.
- The post of Srijap 1 was set by 1st Battalion, 8 Gorkha rifles on the northern bank of Pangong Lake by Major Dhan Singh Thapa.
- This post was soon surrounded by Chinese forces.
- Major Thapa and his men bravely held the post thrice but were eventually defeated.
- Lt Thapa along with the survivors were captured as prisoners of war.
