Indian secularism works in various ways to prevent religious domination:

1) The Indian state does not support or stand for any one religion. It does not abide by the preference of one religion over the others.               Government schools, hospitals ,police stations , courts ,etc. do not promote any religion.

2)The state follows a policy of non interference in religious matters. To respect the religious sentiments and their practices, the state makes some exceptions. For example: A, Muslim woman is allowed to wear a Burkha wherever she goes and the state has to respect that.

3)The state follows a policy of intervention. In our country,the hideous practice of Untouchability is banned as it proposed discrimination within the members of the same religion. Thus, the government uprooted it as it was a social problem which violated the fundamental right of the people in lower castes.
