The vermiform appendix was of use in our ancestrol period...as it was used to digest cellulose at a time when they consumed grass...but now it's of no use because of successive evolution that has taken place in human species....

Darwin theorized that the appendix in humans and other primates was theevolutionary remains of a largerstructure, called a cecum, which was used by now- extinct ancestors for digesting food. As our ancestor ate various kinds of food items and were not cooked before eating but now after years of advancement we dont need appendix for the digestion of the food as we it food which is cooked and broken doen it simple form by the enzymes that act on it
