William bertineck agreed and supported mauclay's views. in 1835, the govt passed an act, declaring that education funds would be utilised for imparting Western education thru the medium of Eng. in 1844, English bcm the official language and it was declared that ppl having knwledge of English wd be prffrd for public employment.

In 1950, the constitution made Hindi the official language but it's results were conflicting....That's why after 15 years of our Constitution, English and Hindi both were singed as official language in India.
