Considering the different problems related with cultivation, the Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana stepped up with regards to setting up Plant Disease Clinic in 1978 that provided solution to the problems of farmers related with plant diseases as it were.

A need was felt to reorganize and expand the area of working of the clinic because of event of more unpredictable disorders.

As a result of continuous efforts of the university, an undeniable plant clinic was established at PAU in January 1993.
